Omani lemon tea, also known as sour tea, is one of the most popular traditional drinks in Iran, Kuwait, Oman, Iraq, and the United Arab Emirates.

A variety of Omani lemon teas are prepared from the combination of Omani lemons with cow’s tongue flowers, sumac, dill, thyme, cumin, basil, oregano, green tea and black tea.

How to prepare Omani lemon tea

Omani lemon or dry black lemon – 3 pcs

Water – 2 cups

Sugar or honey and saffron (optional) – as much as you like

Recipe

• Wash the Omani lemon clean, break it and remove it from the skin and seeds.

• Add Omani lemon and saffron to two cups of boiling water and let it brew for 20 to 30 minutes.

• Omani lemon tea is ready, pass it through a strainer, put it in a cup, sweeten it with sugar or honey and drink it.

• You can add this tea to brewed tea.

Tip: If you want your tea to not have a bitter taste, it is better to remove the skin and seeds.
